Tennessee has adopted new childhood immunization requirements to better protect children from diseases, especially those that can spread easily in a school setting. ALL seventh graders must show proof of a booster dose of tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (Tdap) vaccine; and confirm either chickenpox immunity through disease or receipt of two doses of the varicella vaccine. ALL immunizations must be provided to the school on the new immunization form. Anderson County Schools are allowing a grace period of October 1st to submit the new form. The Anderson County Health Department is offering extended clinics on Tuesdays starting at 4pm, throughout the month of August. The vaccinations will be FREE to all incoming 7th grade students. The remaining dates are August 24th and August 31st. Please call the Health Department at (865)425-8801 to make an appointment.
